Remembering Gregg Allman

Remembering Gregg Allman

Yet another music legend has passed away. Gregg Allman, who fronted The Allman Brothers Band for decades, died from complications from liver cancer on May 27 at the age of 69. The Allman Brothers Band is one of my all-time favorite musical acts and Allmans strong vocals and superior songwriting made me a fan for life. The bands southern rock/blues sound was sensational and spawned many legendary hits from the late 1960s to the 1990s. Allmans aching vocals on songs like the bluesy "Whippin Post" are legendary, but he also sounded great on rock efforts like "Midnight Rider" and "Im No Angel" as well as the more melancholy "Melissa." The Allman Brothers Band are most famous for their material from the 1960s and 1970s, but they released a few great songs in the 1990s, including "No One to Run With" and "Soulshine" which both showcased Gregg Allmans exceptional vocals. Rest in Peace Gregg Allman. Thank you for all the musical gifts that you left behind that will continue to be enjoyed for the duration.
