Un tablou postat de prietena mea Sunny Lory pe peretele meu de face book mi-a inspirat acest articol. Eu ?i Lory facem de mult imp schimb de sirene, fiecare dintre noi are c�te o colec?ie

I-am promis atunci c? voi c?uta Odysseus ?i sirenele de John William Waterhouse... ?i am g?sit tabloul, ad?ug�nd ?i altele

Explica?ia ata?at? tabourilor de mai sus sun? a?a:

Sunny Lory, ?i-am promis Odysseu ?i sirenele de John William Waterhouse dar am fost dezam?git? c�nd am v?zut c? memoria m-a �n?elat ?i c? pictorul a prezentat sirenele a?a cum apar ele pe un vas grecesc antic, precum ni?te p?s?ri. Waterhouse are ni?te tablouri cu sirene ?i cu ondine, dar acestea nu au nimic deaface cu Ulisse (Odysseu)

Am continuat cu alte tablouri, voi copia explica?ia dup? ce le voi desc?rca aici:

Cel mai cunoscut ?i mai percutant tablou dedicat lui Odysseu (Ulise) ?i sirenelor este cel al lui Herbert James Draper, 1864-1920. c. 1909. Am g?sit ?i o descriere a tabloului, �n englez?:

�he depiction of the sirens is an interesting one as Homers account was rather vague and artists usually drew them as bird like figures with female heads. Draper, however, depicts them as mermaids and young women. We see a boat full of muscly sailors apparently terrified by three nude girls. As they climb aboard, an act of assertive sexuality, the sirens change from mermaids into women.

The theme of the nymph and the temptress became something of an obsession in Drapers work. This work was done later in Drapers career, when he was a married man, and contrasts dramatically with an earlier work by him The Sea Maiden which shows the sailors as the aggressors.

The picture contains many contrasts; the sea and the air, the masculine and the feminine, the dark and the light, hard and soft. These contrasts are enhanced by the colours used by Draper with the sailors being dark and weather beaten, the sirens are pale and untouched by the sun like an English Edwardian lady.�

�n mod evident tabloul lui Draper a preluat tema sirenei ca femeie, tem? care poate fi  admirat? ?i pe un mozaic roman din Tunisia de azi.

Aceea?i tem?, a �n?el?toarei sirene cu trup de fememie o g?sim ?i �n tabloul lui William Etty din 1837. Pe net e prezentat cu insisten?? numai detaliul cu tabloul pentru c? prim planul tabloului, cu victimele sirenelor �n form? de cadavre (Etty a studiat cadavre ?i figurile lui sunt tulbur?tor de reale) ?i femeile lascive au displ?cut la vremea lor.

Am mai adaugat un tablou care mie personal nu-mi place dar �n care sirenele sunt parc? ?i mai lascive, ?i mai periculos de atr?g?toare de?i au aspectul cu care ne-m obi?nuit c�nd ne g�ndim la sirene, aspect inspirat de pe?tele numit Dugong, care are o ciudat? asem?nare cu un corp uman (am v?zut unul expus la Muzeul Antipa)

Curzio Malaparte are o descriere �nfior?toare a unui festin �n care s-a servit dugong (ac?iunea se pertece pe la jum?tatea secolului XX) �n cartea lui, La Peau. De fapt toat? cartea trebuie citit? cu emetiral sau ghimbir pentru c? p�n? ?i partea care d? titlul e �ngrozitoare. Am dat-o �mprumut ?i persoana respectiv? a refuzat s? mi-o �napoieze..cred c? e mai bine a?a.
